What is a boiler service?
It is basically checking, cleaning, testing and pre-emptive fault-spotting, with the emphasis on testing all the functions of an appliance for correct and safe operation.

Why it is necessary?
Although a boiler or gas appliance appears to be working efficiently there can still be hidden faults which only a service can reveal. Take, for example, the device which turns the gas off it the pilot light blows out; if this fails to work (when it is most needed) you could have gas leaking into your house. But how do you know it's working efficiently unless it has been fully tested during a regular boiler service?

How often should you have a boiler service?
Manufacturers recommend a service on an annual basis to maximise safety and efficiency and to guard against expensive and inconvenient breakdowns at a time when fuels costs and general living costs are steadily rising.
